Interguild News and Home
Welcome to the Interguild! We are a unique community focused on quality games that usually allow players to be creative in some sort of way. This means that these games usually offer some sort of customizable content that can add a lot of depth and can support a fully-sized fan community, the most popular of which usually focus on user-made levels. To help our communities, we dedicate an entire section of the site for each game while providing services such as forums, content galleries, site events, guides, video help, and anything else we can think of. We also plan to make our own games. If you know a game that you would like to see on the site, or if you want to learn more about us, click here.

New Competition
Come join the first competition of the new Interguild! Not only that, but it's the first competition that uses the new system I coded, and it's also the first competition that we've had in about two months. But this is also a chance for you to get used to the new system. You cannot join this competition without a finished entry. And your entry has to be in your gallery if you want to enter it. If you have any questions, read the guide, or post a comment.

HATPC: CC #24 - Innovation

Start Date: Saturday, Jan 3, 2009
End Date: Saturday, Jan 17, 2009
Game: Only HATPC levels allowed

Competition Rules:

The theme of this competition is "Innovation". Basically, as long as you're not making a "classic" cave of any specific genre, then you're probably good to go for this one. The more creative you are, the better chance you have of winning. Now, don't stress over the fact that you have to get some new ideas for this comp, because you don't. As long as you're doing things differently than the "normal" way you make a cave, then it qualifies. Your ideas don't have to be original either. If you saw a cave long ago that had a cool idea, then why not try to perfect that idea? Or if you have an idea that you were dying to try out, now's the perfect time. Like I said, as long as it doesn't turn out to be a "classic speed cave" or classic puzzle or classic whatever, then it's good.

And it has to be a new level, too. Why enter an old cave into the first comp of the new site?

The Competitions Archive

Site Update
The comps system is now fully operational. You can go to the competition's page and look around, but there's not much to look at yet. To fully enjoy it we need to start a new competition and see it in action.

The way it works is that admins can go to the Add News page to create new competitions. Then members can enter levels from their level galleries into the competition. The comp will automatically close at the end of the specified end-date.

The judging system has also changed significantly. Only admins can assign judges to a comp, and you can't view The Judges Page unless you've been assigned to judge a comp or if you're an admin. To judge a comp, judges will simply rank the levels from best to worst, and then the admin will take the average of all the judge results and publish them. And then they can release a news post with the results.

But this is another archive, so you should be able to browse through past competitions. That's still under construction, and I plan to fill the archive with all information about past competitions manually through the database. And when I do that, I'll also make the Browse Competitions page work. There will also be a search feature to go along with it, but that's also under construction.

Like I said, we should start a competition to get this system up and running. I'm planning on releasing a new PCCA comp this Saturday.

And this marks the end of my plan as stated in my "Construction" news post. I'm amazed that I was able to get all of it done before 2009 (my time, anyway). Now the Interguild is practically on its feet again. All we have to do now is build up activity.

Site Update
After working on it almost nonstop for days, I've finally released the Interguild level galleries!

Right now it looks pretty empty, but once you start filling it with levels, it'll look way better. If you want to bring over your old caves, you can go here:
http://interguild.domingo.org/forum/viewforum.php?f=12
and dig out your levels from your old Cave Galleries. I took off the redirects for now.

While adding your levels, I suggest copying the date from the old cave galleries and putting them into the "custom date" field in the new galleries. I also plan to set up a system for us mods to put all of the extra cavecodes for people who haven't joined the new site yet.

Now that the galleries are out, we should focus on filling them up. After I've put in my levels, I'll focus on the Competitions system which is already mostly complete.

UPDATE:

You can now do a user search by clicking on anyone's name in the galleries. Moderators can also insert levels for people who have not joined the site yet. Not only do I want the mods to fill up their individual galleries, but you should also go in and fill in the caves for people who haven't joined yet, like for jdouble, flame, and everyone else.

When you mods manually put in a username for a new level it will mark it as an "unregistered level". Unregistered levels will make the username appear gray when displayed and there is now an entire Unregistered category to browse. I've added a few unregistered levels to show you guys how it works. You guys can sort it out amongst yourselves who does what levels. As for me, I'll be working on the competitions and hopefully the galleries won't have any more bugs to hammer out.

UPDATE 2

I fixed the mysterious glitch that some people were getting that mixed up their codes and sometimes failed to upload them. I explained its cause in the comments, but none of you really care about that. If you have any glitched levels, just delete them and resubmit them.

UPDATE 3

New Shared Series! If you're a moderator, you can create shared series, which basically allow any member to submit levels into them. When you add or edit levels, you'll notice a new category in the drop-down list for series that will show all of the shared series under it. The first and currently only shared series we have is the "Never Ending Story" Series.

Site Update
Today was the last day of school before the break, and now I don't have any more academic things to worry about. As I said before, I'm going to spend much of my time now finishing up all the services around the site. I hope to get at least a rough prototype of the galleries and competition systems up and running by January 1st.

There's a ton of stuff to work on, but the smaller things can wait until later, or at least until I finish the galleries and the comps. But I'll also be making quick fixes around the site if any glitches come up. Haily said he'll finish importing the old topics as long as I don't bother him about it.

But this is just an announcement to say that lots of stuff will be getting worked on throughout the site. If you see anything go horribly wrong (like when I was making the PM alerts more noticeable and accidentally made them completely huge), don't panic. So, I've got 13 days until new years; let's see how much the site can improve until then...
